Air Astana flies in… to OtleyAndy Holt • 23rd May
At Words&Pictures we’ve always had global ambitions and our influence extends far beyond the walls of our Otley studio. That’s why we are fortunate to work with some of the world’s most admired brands.
Last week our international presence was further extended by the visit of Alexandra Shtopel and Dmitriy Shanchenko from Kazakhstan’s national flagship airline Air Astana. The internal communications duo hail from Almaty, Kazakhstan’s biggest city, and travelled over 3,633 miles to visit our offices.
The aim of the visit was for the Air Astana team and W&P to share inspiration and best practice in internal communications. In the words of Yevgeniya Ni, Air Astana’s Vice President of HR, she wanted her team to “learn from the best in the business”.
The visit was arranged after Andy Holt, W&P’s Group Managing Director, met Yevgeniya at Cranfield University – another organisation with global reach and ambition.
The time spent together was massively productive, inspirational and enlightening for both teams expanding horizons and learning a great deal from each other.
Our team, shared our experiences and creativity. At W&P we have considerable experience with global brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Direct Line Group, Rolls-Royce, Unilever and easyJet. While the Air Astana team shared their impressive video productions and inspiring storytelling approach for the airline’s people awards programme.
Both teams thoroughly enjoyed the time spent together and now want to build on the experience.
In the words of HR Business Partner Alexandra, “For me personally, this experience has had much more impact than some training/seminars which I have attended before. My colleagues are a little bit jealous about it! We already discussed with my team some ideas and insights, gained during our visit, which could be relevant for our business and IC within it. You are a great team and I’m pleased to spend wonderful time with you.”
As part of the visit we provided a taste of Yorkshire hospitality, got to show off Leeds and introduced Alexandra and Dmitriy to parkin and jelly babies! Likewise, we gained an insight into the beauty, majesty and stunning scenery of Kazakhstan and the great humour and breadth of experience of its people.
Both sides are far richer for the experience and look forward to meeting up again… maybe next time in Kazakhstan!
